Seventeen years have passed since the events of Silent Hill. Heather Mason is a normal teenage girl who loves to shop and has a sharp attitude about almost everything, until one day the past catches up with her.
It happened suddenly, without warning and seemingly without reason. Her entire world was transformed into a hellish and bizarre nightmare....
The cheerful bustle of the shopping mall was replaced by a deep, dank silence. The only sounds now were the footsteps of unspeakable creatures lurking in the darkness.
What had happened? Heather was trapped alone in this world. Lost memories from her past begin to bother her. She begins to find out that she is deeply connected to what's going on and has no idea that what just happened in the mall was only the beginning of the nightmare to come.
So begins Silent Hill 3- a direct sequel to the events in Silent Hill.As you progress through the game it becomes clear who Heather is and who is manipulating events to try and bring about a horriffic conclusion - full of revelations and bringing the arc to a close.
As the third game in the series,a lot was expected and whils the plot arcs were dealt with nicely and the loose ends tied up- my overall impression is of a game that wasnt as "scary" as the previous two.Perhaps I was getting too "comfortable" in the SH zone and knew what to expect. The addition of some new monsters was a good trick but half the time I couldnt see what was going on (I know that was the point) but got a bit frustrating at times. Nevertheless, a much superior game in the Survival horror genre and a great conclusion.
